The Uganda Police Force and Military Police officers in Mityana District have today blocked the belated District Women’s Day Celebrations which had been organised by the Area Members of Parliament Hon. David Kalwanga of Busujju County and the District Woman MP Joyce Bagala. The legislators are members of the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Police is said to have used teargas, water cannons and live bullets to disperse hundreds of people who had gathered to attend the event.
The legislators have showed dismay for Police’s failure to respect people to express their rights to celebrate such an official event.
