Tamale Mirundi survived NUP supporters when he provoked them during the burial of Isma Olaxes in Mukono. Tamale Mirundi started well and received a heroic welcome as he gave Police and other security organs an ultimatum of two weeks to hunt for the assailants who gunned down Jajja Iculi.
But along the way, he started slipping off when he defended President Museveni saying he was not the one who killed Isma.
“President Museveni does not people. But he can put situations which lead people to their own graves!” Mirundi said.
He showed dismay saying it’s so unfortunate for Iculi, a popular supporter of the ruling party (NRM) to be killed in that brutal manner with a lot of force despite being a very peaceful man.
“The assailants could be intending to silence NRM supporters for opposition’s National Unity Platform (NUP). We will not accept to just look on as we are being killed, one by one without any action being taken,” he said.
However, those words did not go well to the hundreds of NUP supporters who attended the burial who immediately started booing Tamale Mirundi until he gave up and handed back the microphone.
It was a burial function for H a prominent city blogger, Ibrahim Tusubira a.k.a Jajja Iculi. Tusubira who is also known as Isma Olaxes has been laid to rest at Katwe village in Nakisunga sub-county, Mukono district.
Isma was on Saturday evening shot dead by unknown assailants as he had reached his home at Kyanja Central Zone.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire said that the incident happened at around 9:20PM. He was shot while seated in the passenger seat in his car, a drone, registration number UBK 213D.
Isma’s burial attracted celebrities from the music industry, comedians, bloggers, politicians, members of the Muslim fraternity and the local people from different walks of life.
The celebrities included Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool, Joseph Mayanja a.k.a Dr. Jose Chameleon, Bruno K, Kabako, Halima Namakula, DJ Micheal, Omulangira Ssuuna, among others.
Other celebrities were; Sharita Namuyimbwa alias Bad Black, S.K Mbuga, blogger Meddie Messiah, Dr. Kulthum Muzaata, Hadija Kigozi, Zuena Kirema, the wife to Bebe cool and many others.
The politicians were led by the Kampala Central Member of Parliament, Muhammad Nsereko, Kawempe North MP, Muhammad Ssegirinya, Tamale Mirundi, Baramu Barugahara who represented the MK Movement, Frank Gashumba, Dr. Lawrence Muganga and Frank Sserubiri who represented the NRM’s Office of the National Chairman (ONC).
Baram however asked Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s supporters to remain calm saying by all means, they will come to power.
Gashumba called for tolerance between Ugandans saying he highly suspect that Isma’s death must have been triggered by someone who got angered by one of his messages he recently passed out.
“Its high time we started accepting even those people who are not speaking what we believe in. Death is the final destination of every human being. Whether you kill how many people, your day will also come and you die,” he said.
Muhammad Ssegirinya asked Police to bring to book the assailants who are using guns to terminate people’s lives.
Bebe Cool said Iculi had changed the life of many bloggers who had started looking at blogging as a living.
“Most of us the musicians, other artists and business people no longer leave without the influence of bloggers as a means of communication. We have therefore missed Tusubira so dearly,” he said.
Andrew Mukasa who is known as Bajjo said because he does not believe in NRM government and that reflects in what he says, he is on the list of those who are being hunted adding that killing Isma who is a prominent supporter of the government must have been a mistaken identity when in actual sense the assailants had wanted him (Bajjo).
Nsereko who represented the speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among and delivered her sh10m to the family said Ugandans have been having a lot of trust in government just because it was giving them protection.
“Unfortunately, if people like Isma who has been nothing (masikiini), who only decided to talk as a means of survival can be killed, then the people’s trust is much affected.
Haj Muhammad Kasajja, the father of Tusubira showed dismay for the murder of his son who worked for his survival.
