Bishop Kagodo Reshuffles Clergy

The bishop of Mukono diocese, Enos Kitto Kagodo announced his first reshuffle of the clergy ever since his Consecration on February 26, 2023.

Bp. Kagodo made the long awaited pronouncements during the 62nd diocesan council which was convened on Friday at Bp. Ssebaggala Synod Hall.

 

The bishop declared Rev. Ven. Godfrey Ssengendo the new Provost of Saints Phillip and Andrew’s Cathedral which is the headquarters of Mukono diocese.

Ven. Ssengendo who has been the archdeacon of Nassuuti Archdeaconry takes up the post of Provost which fell vacant after its occupant, the then Canon Kagodo was elected as the fifth bishop of Mukono diocese replacing Bp. James William Ssebaggala.

Ven. Ssengendo’s name was among the two names which the Mukono diocese bishop’s nomination committee sent to the House of the Bishops together with that of Bp. Kagodo and he was defeated.

Therefore, some Christians in the diocese have been heard saying it’s a good consolation to Ven. Ssengendo.

“I appreciate my bishop for knowing that it was a simple competition from which he emerged the winner. Therefore by calling Ven. Ssengendo to serve with him, it’s a very good sign of good leadership which other leaders must emulate,” said one of the believers.

Other changes include; Rev. Kenneth Kampi from Buziika Parish to Nassuuti Archdeaconry as the archdeacon, Rev. Paul Ssegawa from Ndeeba Parish to Buziika as the Vicar, Rev. Joshua Luggya, from Mavunikire Parish to work as the bishop’s chaplain and Ord. Derrick Kaddu who was the diocesan communications officer who was sent to Mavunikire parish.

Kaddu who has been a lay reader is currently at Uganda Christian University upgrading as a servant of God. Moses Ssewankambo took over as the acting communications officer for the diocese. Ssewankambo, a teacher at Bishop West Boarding Primary School has been serving in the communications office together with Kaddu for quite some time.

According to the Mukono Diocesan Secretary, Canon John Ssebudde, the bishop also appointed Rev. Noah Nsubuga, the Bishop Senior School chaplain as the Human Resource Manager for the diocese.

Ssebudde said that Rev. Samuel Sserwadda who was at Centenary Community College in Kayunga district was sent to Kasawo as Assistant Vicar whereas Rev. Apollo Ssegawa from Ndeeba was sent to Buziika as Vicar.

“The bishop also declared Rev. Ignatius Kabuuka, the archdeacon of Kangulumira archdeaconry and Ven. Ssengendo as Canons. Some changes will take effect in June and others in July,” the diocesan secretary said.
