FDC Beats NUP in Bishop Stuart University Guild Race

National Unity Platform (NUP) on Saturday lost the Bishop Stuart University (BSU) Guild President race to Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), ending their dominance in the institutions of Higher Learning of late. FDC’s Best Arnold Ankunda, a second year student of Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and Community Development beat NUP’s Sunday Mukama with 458 to 116 votes.

The race attracted nine candidates where the rest of the contenders performed as follows; Emmanuel Nuwasiima came in the second position with 181 votes, Fortunate Atwijukire of JEMA got 175 votes, Akoragye Seth 140 votes.

Others were; Frank Ariho who got 89 votes, Isaac Ayesiga mukama who scored 58 votes, Brian Ainomugisha gannered 44 votes and Nickson Muganga 36 votes.

Ankunda was declared winner by Paul Aryamanya Junior, the chairperson electoral commission Bishop Stuart University.

Ankunda, the BSU 19th Guild President’s victory is connected to the great support from one time BSU guild president, Denmark Beinomugisha who was at campus together with the Buhweju Member of Parliament, Francis Mwijukye. The duo is said to have played a significant role in Ankunda’s camp having facilitated his campaigns from the start. Ankunda is replacing Adonia Singire, the 18th guild president.
