Police Rescue 5-Year-Old Kidnapped Boy

The territorial police in Mityana District have recovered a five-year-old Emmanuel Kayima who had been kidnapped by unidentified person.

Wamala Region Police spokesperson, Rachel K Kawala said that preliminary findings indicated that on 15/06/2023 at around 4:00pm at Kinvuunikidde Cell, Busimbi division in Mityana district, the victim was waylaid on his way from school, kidnapped and taken to unknown place.
Kawala said that later, the kidnappers demanded for ransom of 100,000,000 from the parents.
“On Wednesday June 21, at about 9:30am police received information that there was a child who had been sighted locked up in an abandoned house belonging to Ssengozi Vincent in Kinvuunikidde cell, Busimbi division, Mityana Municipality. We immediately responded to the scene.
We broke into the room that had been locked with a padlock and rescued the victim,” Kawala narrated.
She reported that  police only managed to recover clothes belonging to the kidnappers.
She confirmed that after recovering the victim alive and seemingly unhurt, he was taken to Mityana Hospital for medical examination.
He was later reunited with his parents.
“Efforts are still underway to have the prime suspect apprehended for prosecution. We urge parents and guardians to always be vigilant and always monitor the movements of their children at all times whether to or from school, church, home amongst other places. More inquiries are ongoing,” Kawala said.
