Jinja Road Police on Tuesday arrested a Police Officer on allegations of murder by shooting that happened in the barracks.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango identified the suspect as AIP David Egwang and the deceased as Cpl Jennifer Atino.
Onyango alleged that on September 5, 2023 at around 5:00pm, Egwang, a police officer attached to Counter Terrorism tactical Naguru shot his wife dead with a pistol while at Jinja road police barracks where they have been staying.
“Atino, the deceased has been attached to Very Important Person Protection Unit of Police (VIPPU) at Parliament. The motive of shooting is suspected to be domestic violence,” he said.
He added that the suspect, AIP Egwang David is currently detained at Jinja Road Police Division awaiting interrogation.
