Two Foreign Tourists, Ugandan Killed by ADF Rebels

Three people including two foreign tourists are said to have been killed by the suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels.

The Police together with other sister security agencies have started pursuing the suspected rebels who have carried out the very cruel act of killing the tourists together with the driver.

Police spokesman Fred Enanga has confirmed the incident which happened on Tuesday evening, saying the assailants after carrying out the gruesome murder; they set the vehicle which the tourists were traveling in on fire.

“We have registered a cowardly terrorist attack on two foreign tourists and a Ugandan in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The three were killed, and their safari vehicle burnt. Our joint forces responded immediately upon receiving the information and are aggressively pursuing the suspected ADF rebels,” Enanga said.

Photos shared widely on different social media platforms showed bodies of the victims lying in a pool of blood near a burning tour vehicle in which the victims were travelling before the attack.

The three were said to have been attacked along Katwe Road between Lake Nyamununka and Kabatooro in the Western Uganda in Kasese District.

This is not the first time tourists are being attacked in the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

On April 2, 2019, American tourist Kimberly Endicott and her guide Jean- Paul Mirenge were kidnapped by suspected terrorists at QENP. The government paid ransom for their release five days later.

The attack comes days after President Museveni said on Sunday that security forces had foiled a bomb attack on churches by an ADF rebel group.
