Dr. Nsingo’s service at Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital

Dr. Nsingo joined Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital in January 2018, and he has done tremendous changes to uplift the Church of Uganda hospital under Mukono diocese which was struggling then to a shining medical facility which the general public in Mukono and the surrounding districts are boosting of.

In an interview with Dr. Nsingo on Tuesday, he said that he has increased efficiency and infrastructure in the hospital that helped it grow its patience numbers for the time he has been under its management.

“We have expanded the hospital through acquiring land near us. We constructed the HIV clinic, Purple pharmacy and a rental commercial building which is earning the hospital some revenue helping it to financially grow and acquire a self-sustaining status. At least the hospital is no longer basing on the external finances as it used to be,” he said.

Among the other things that the hospital has managed to acquire during the reign of Dr. Nsingo’s six years is the fully fledged private wing equipped with a number of specialists who have also boosted its trust in some financially stable patients who among other things, wanted privacy and experts to handle their complicated illnesses.

“We also set up an emergency response unit which is equipped with modern ambulances and standby medical officers who are in our accident and emergency ward,” he says.

In conjunction with Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP), Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital also started a Community Based Organisation (CBO) which skills girl children and later equips them with capital to start their own businesses.

The CBO is mainly focusing on equipping these teens with skills which can make them self-reliant to avoid over dependence on men that can affect them with HIV/AIDS and also get unwanted pregnancies.

Due to its efficiency, just last month, Mukono Church of Uganda Hospital acquired the Rotary Hospital located at Ngandu Cell in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality where it has expanded its services.

Unlike before when the hospital found hardships as far as the health workers’ accommodation was concerned, Dr. Nsingo has managed to build a number of well-furnished houses for the medics and they are currently having decent accommodation.

“Improving the hospital’s relationship with the church is one of the things I can’t take for granted, because it is our foundation body,” he said.

Mukono Church of Uganda hospital also has dental and eye units which are run by experienced health workers.

Nsingo adds; “We also put in place a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and we are also building a modern children’s ward which will soon be opening.”
