The Police are investigating circumstances under which a Kampala-based famous barber, Anold Senkungu was on December 27, 2023 stabbed to death by her girlfriend Shina Atwine.
The shocking incident is said to have happened at Mosque Zone, Kibuli Parish in Makindye Division, Kampala district.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said that the incident occurred at Senkungu’s residence, where the 24-year-old barber and 21-year-old student were found in distress by their neighbour, Sserunjogi Frank.
Discovering fresh blood and locked doors, Owoyesigyire said that the neighbours forced entry, only to find Senkungu alive but later succumbed to injuries at Kibuli Hospital.
He added that tragically, Shina was found lifeless with a deep neck wound which is believed that she inflicted it on herself after stabbing Senkungu to death point.
“Swift police response and Homicide Unit assistance uncovered a scene of struggle. A new knife with fresh blood and witness statements were pivotal to the investigation,” he said.
Owoyesigyire further revealed that the body of Senkungu had multiple injuries, and it is alleged that the couple exhibited signs of a troubled marriage.
“Shina had confided in a friend about mistreatment, purchasing a new knife possibly indicating premeditation. The Motive of the murder is still under investigation and more details will be availed as soon as possible,” he said.
Shina and Senkungu’s bodies were picked by Police from the scene and Kibuli Hospital respectively, delivering them to City Mortuary for post-mortem examination. Police urge anyone with information to aid the pursuit of justice.
