The Principal of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu a.k.a Bobi Wine on the New Year made a courtesy visit to the hungry and homeless street people around different streets of Kampala City Centre.

Kyagulanyi who was in company of the party’s Secretary General, David Luis Lubongoya went to the streets at night and found most of the street children and other homeless people asleep. The goodies included well cooked and packed pillawo rice, milk, sodas and others.

Through his X handle, Kyagulanyi said these people found themselves on the streets for different reasons and as a person who has ever been there and slept hungry, he had to visit, encourage and share with them the first supper of the New Year 2024.

“Last night, we visited the streets of Kampala to share some food with our homeless people. Only those who have ever slept hungry for lack of food or slept on the street before would understand the pain which these people go through every day,” reads part of Kyagulanyi’s tweet.

He adds; “We thought it was important to share with them the first supper of the New Year and give them words of encouragement. It is also important to raise their plight, because they end up on the streets for different reasons. Such people must be thought about as we plan and strive to build a nation where all citizens live in dignity.”
