Solomon Walukhu and Ronia Samuels Kirabo of Cornerstone Junior School Mukono are among the school’s best candidates from the Primary Leaving (PLE) for the year 2023 which were released by the Minister for Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni on Thursday.
The duo scored 4 aggregates, the result which did not only make the school proud but also their parents.
Kirabo (13) is a daughter to Joyce and Dr. Yona Kapere of Buguju Cell in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality. She attributes her success to God, support from her parents and teachers.
She also says that she worked hard taking the advice and encouragement given to her by both her teachers and classmates. Kirabo wants to join Ndejje Senior Secondary School for her ‘O’ level education as she aspires to become a doctor at the end of her education journey.
Walukhu (13) is a son of Catherine and Emmy Walukhu who reside at Nassuuti Cell in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality.
Walukhu wants to become an engineer like her aunt Clair Kasiimire. He is to join St. Mary’s College Kisubi for his secondary education. He says that their teachers at Cornerstone Junior School Mukono have been so supportive in their entire education journey, making their studies lovely and easier.
“No wonder all of us passed with flying colours. With the strong education foundation we have attained here, I am sure we are also going to succeed even for ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels,” he said.
For Janella Kirabo (13), she scored 5 aggregates. Janella got a distinction two in Science and the rest of the subjects a distinction one. A daughter of Michael Tumusiime and Winnie Kyomuhendo of Gayaza says she wants to become a doctor.
After receiving the results, the teachers joined some of the pupils who ran to school to celebrate the victory.
Jacqueline Nakagezi, the headteacher of Cornerstone Junior School Legacy Campus said that out of the 160 candidates who sat for PLE, 122 came out with first grades.
Nakagezi has called upon parents to entrust their children with them saying with the extension at Kabembe, the Legacy Campus, the school has expanded the space for the learners and of course the new entrants.
