Two People Arrested for Burying Alive a 16-yr-Old Boy

The territorial Police in Rwizi Region and Mbarara CPS, have in custody, two suspects who allegedly buried alive a 16-year-old boy.

Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson identified the suspects as Kamuhanda Evans, aged 17 and Kamukama Apollo (43) of Kaliba cell Bubaare sub-county. Enanga said the duo is charged with alleged torture and attempted murder of Amanya Charles of Kabujye cell, Sheema district

“On the May 28, 2024 at around 10:00am, the suspects accused the victim for stealing their phones, which forced them to tie him on a tree, where they tortured him. Later in the night, they dug a shallow grave, where they dumped and buried him alive,” he narrated.

He added that the victim managed to crawl out of the shallow grave, to a nearby shack, where he spent two days till the May 30, 2024, at around 6:00pm, that he was discovered and taken to police.

The victim was transferred to Bubaare Health Centre for treatment.

“It is extremely saddening that the victim was held captive, tortured over a missing phone and dumped in a shallow grave by his co-workers. He was fortunate to survive such an ordeal,” he said.

Enanga added that the two suspects are charged with torture, conspiracy to comit a felony and attempted murder.

“We wish to inform the public that torture is a punishable crime and can lead to murder. We further urge the public to observe rule of law and avoid such acts of impunity. Efforts are in place to trace for the other suspects still at large and ensure they are charged to court,” he said.
