NUP Wins Mukono YMCA Guild Race

Mark Mukwaya of the National Unity Platform (NUP) was on Thursday declared winner of the Mukono YMCA College guild president race.

Mukwaya who almost got disqualified as the administration of Mukono YMCA College refused him to involve national politics in their election managed to sneak his way to the big seat as he adhered to the restrictions that he was imposed on.

Among the many was the denial to use the NUP logo on his campaign posters and denying the NUP intuitions leadership led by David Musiri and party members from Mukono to join his campaign team inside the college.

The race for the Guild president attracted three candidates where Mukwaya emerged winner with 147 votes. He was followed by David Kakaire with 105 votes and Joel Zimula who only garnered 67 votes.

Mukwaya promised to unveil a fruitful and unique leadership that will be characterized by all students’ involvement.

“Even after becoming the Guild President, I am going to remain a down to earth person and accessible by every member of the College,” he said.

Through his social media handle, Musiri has congratulated Mukwaya for the victory.

“Congratulations Mr. Guild President Mukwya Mark, congratulations to YMCA students for the courage and commitment no matter the level of intimidation yesterday on the final really. You still voted for the students’ power/NUP Institutions/National Unity Platform. Viva Viva,” Musiri’s message reads.
