The National Unity Platform (NUP) Party President, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has rubbished the decision taken by the Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Kawempe Division Yasin Ndidde to halt the grand opening of the new party offices at Kavule in Kawempe slated for Thursday November 2, 2023.

Kyagulanyi in a response to Ndidde’s letter he posted on his social media handles on Tuesday evening he scoffed at the latter saying he would have cited any law they intend to bleach as a registered political party than a mere baseless talk.

“This evening, we received this ridiculous letter from the Deputy Resident City Commissioner of Kawempe purporting to stop the grand opening of our new offices at Kavule on Thursday! Museveni has messed up our country so much, to an extent that some Deputy RDC feels powerful enough to block an activity of a registered political party – without even citing any law. The laughable reason he gives is that there are many other activities on that day, as though we invited them to attend. This is an internal activity for Party Organs as well as specially invited guests including Political leaders, religious leaders and members of the diplomatic community,” reads part of Kyagulanyi’s response.

He adds; “Well, we have responded to him, reminding him that he has no right whatsoever to issue these illegal orders and confirming that we shall proceed with our activity as planned!”

The letter which Deputy RCC Kawempe Division, Yasin Ndidde wrote to NUP secretary general.

Ndidde’s letter on reference Ref: D/RCC/100/01, dates 31st October 2023 sent to the NUP Secretary General says that as the members of the Division Security Committee (DSC), it had come to their intention that the NUP was planning to open up a new office at Makerere-Kavule on the November 2, 2023 which was circulating on social media.

“This is to inform you that if the allegations are true, the same date has many activities to be carried out and security may not allow your event to continue for purposes of securing the area for VIP. The purpose of this letter therefore, is to advise that you postpone the same to another date after second for security purposes and also you notify the relevant Offices,” reads part of the Deputy RCC Kawempe Division, Yasin Ndidde.

The NUP publicity secretary, Joel Senyonyi in his response to the same letter says Ndidde is clearly suffering from what to do, and also looking for some attention (bampaane)!

Senyonyi also shared an alleged poster of Ndidde as showing him as a contender for Mityana Municipality in 2026 on a National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket.

“This is the deputy rdc of Kawempe who wrote a letter saying we should postpone the official opening of the NUP headquarters at Makerere-Kavule slated for tomorrow, because, in his words “there will be many other activities happening on the same day.” This fellow is clearly suffering from what to do, and also looking for some attention(bampaane)!” reads Senyonyi’s message which he also shared on his social media platform.
