Fear on Sunday gripped residents of Kyaddondo East constituency following the sudden death of a former Member of Parliament aspirant.

James Serebe, who ran on the Democratic Party (DP) ticket in 2020 is said to have died on Saturday night following the stressful African Cup of Nations quarter final results.

Owen Musoke, the DP secretary general for Kyaddondo East said that they watched the Mali vs Ivory Coast game at Sparks Bar in Kasangati together with Serebe.

“After the match recorded a draw result for the 90 minutes, Serebe complained of feeling cold and excused himself to go to the clinic for some medication,” Musoke said.

He added: “We could not believe that the person who drove himself to the clinic had died after less than 20 minutes.”

Upon reaching the clinic, it is alleged that Serebe called his daughter asking for his coat following the coldness he was feeling.

Unfortunately, before the daughter turned up, as the medical officer was organising treatment for him, he realised that Serebe had already died.

Mali registered a one goal draw from Ivory Coast during the 90 minutes calling for the extra time 30 minutes. After containing the game also in the 30 minutes of the extra time, as they were planning for the penalty shootout, Ivory Coast scored a winning goal during the one added minute of the 30 extra minutes.
