IGG Arrests Ten District Civil Servants for Swindling sh1.2bn

At least ten civil servants from Bugiri district have been arrested for allegedly swindling sh1.2bn meant for the workers in the financial year 2019-2020.

The suspects have been arrested by the Office of the Inspector General of Government under the Busoga Regional Inspectorate officer, Fredrick Okech.

The suspects include; Ezaruku Kazimiro the former Bugiri Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) who is currently the CAO of Madi Okollo district, Mustapher Nyende, the district chief financial officer, Abdallah Waiswa, the senior district accountant, Minsa Atoire, the senior accountant assistant and Fred Bazibu, the assistant accountant.

Others are; Kabulo Henry, the District Education Officer (DEO), Haruna Kamba, the district deputy CAO, Paul Moses Isiko, the district production officer, Fred Ikaaba, the district engineer and Mohamed Kyondha, the district planner.

Their arrest follows the outcry from government workers that includes the teachers who raised complaints to the office of the IGG.

All these will appear before the anti-corruption court in Kampala on Tuesday.
